 Major Changes in UAE Visa Rules: A Comprehensive Overview

The UAE Cabinet has announced significant reforms to its visa system, aimed at fostering inclusivity, simplifying procedures, and enhancing the nation's position as a hub for opportunities. These updates are designed to benefit residents, visitors, job seekers, and businesses alike. Here’s a breakdown of the major changes:

1. Replacement of Mandatory Bank Guarantees

The UAE has abolished the requirement for mandatory bank guarantees in labor recruitment. This will be replaced by a low-cost insurance system, reducing financial burdens on businesses and promoting a more flexible workforce.

2. Visa Facilitation for Visitors and Residents

New procedures have been introduced to ease visa-related processes for visitors, residents, families, and individuals overstaying their visas. These steps aim to simplify travel and residency management while encouraging compliance.

3. Transit Visa Reforms

Transit passengers can now enjoy a fee exemption for the first 48 hours. Additionally, travelers have the option to extend their transit visa for up to 96 hours for a nominal fee of AED 50.

4. Support for Overstayers

Overstayers are now offered a chance to leave the country voluntarily without a "no entry" stamp on their passports. Furthermore, individuals who entered the UAE illegally can leave voluntarily with a two-year "no entry" stamp, provided they present a return ticket.

5. Introduction of a 6-Month Job-Seeking Visa

A new six-month temporary visa is being introduced for job seekers who overstayed their visas but wish to work in the UAE. This initiative positions the UAE as a destination for talent and professional growth.

 

6. Onshore Visa Adjustments

Individuals can now adjust or renew their visas within the country for a fee, eliminating the need to exit and re-enter the UAE.

7. Empowering People of Determination

A resolution has been adopted to empower People of Determination (persons with disabilities) by ensuring equal access to job opportunities, promoting inclusivity within the workforce.
